Happy Sunday

I feel as though Christmas is already here!  Gift-buying is nearly done; I’ve even wrapped some presents, so I am way ahead of where I usually am a week before the 25th.  We’ve been watching the holiday classics, and that puts me in the spirit — tonight we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas and the first half of It’s a Wonderful Life.

This year has added meaning for me because of my volunteer work.  Most years I would have spent a day like today around the house, possibly playing board games.  I nearly did get together with some friends for gaming.  Instead, I went to yoga, and after lunch I took off on some errands.  I bought some candy for one of my patients and had a nice visit; she really appreciates the sweets!  I know she is not feeling very well and is unhappy about being bedridden and nearly blind; however, the visits do seem to really help.

I felt good about the visit to my other patient, because he was already out of his room roaming the halls when I arrived, and he seemed to be doing relatively well.  I didn’t have time for a long visit, but it worked out well because his sister and nephew showed up to see him.  They seemed very nice, and his sister had a cute little dog with her.

Karen and Lara went with Jan and Jenn into the City for high tea.  Erik had time in the afternoon to think about a Christmas gift he needs to get, and we worked out a plan.

All in all, it was a productive day and yet restful at the same time.
