tell me something funny

Not much is funny about a day like today.

It’s Monday, which is often interesting but rarely funny.

The whole Bay Area seems to be in a bit of a funk due to yesterday’s football game.  I understand, but it’s just a game.  Cheer up, peoples!  The 49ers had a great year.  As I’ve said before, you didn’t have a bad day — those players and coaches did.

The political news is definitely not funny.  Newt Gingrich won the South Carolina Republican primary last week?  Seriously?!  Look at these poll numbers:

Fox News, 1/12-1/14:
Obama, fav/unfav, 51%/46%, +5
Romney, fav/unfav, 45%/38%, +7
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 27%/56%, -29

CBS/NYT, 1/12-1/17:
Obama, fav/unfav, 38%/45%, -7
Romney, fav/unfav, 21%/35%, -14
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 17%/49%, -32

PPP, 1/13-1/17:
Obama, app/dis, 47%/50%, -3
Romney, fav/unfav, 35%/53%, -18
Gingrich, fav/unfav, 26%/60%, -34

“America does not love Romney, but boy do they hate Newt.”  Here’s a link to the article where I found the numbers and that quote:

On the other hand, the Obama administration and campaign strategists may be beside themselves with glee!

I went to the doctor for my annual physical.  No problem.  That’s good news, but there’s no jocularity in it.  Wait, I take that back.  In removing my jacket and shirt for the exam, I found that I had put my shirt on inside-out this morning.  Luckily I had never taken my jacket off for anybody to notice the shirt.  That’s mildly amusing.

Tonight is running club night at Sports Basement.  Healthful, but hardly humorous.  My friend David, who apparently reads this stuff, has a bum leg and won’t be joining the run; sorry, David, I really can’t think of a way to make light of that!

I’m not feeling negative, but I could use a good laugh.  Quick, somebody send me a funny joke or video!
